Coastal Lumber Company Today
This
just in . . . Live from the newsroom . . . now that we have the
attention of every good news junkie out there, (and aren’t we all
news junkies these days), we want to provide some insight to Coastal
Lumber both operationally and into the principles that guide us.
It is unfortunately easy to deal with companies and know too
little about them. No
one wants to admit that is the case, and often we assume and are
then surprised when we find out how much more there is to a company
than what we perceived.
Coastal, although admittedly smaller than days
past, is still a major producer of hardwood lumber in the
Appalachian region of the Eastern US. We
currently have 7 functioning operations.
These facilities are comprised of 4 sawmills in WV; Hacker Valley,
Dailey, Gassaway and Frametown; one sawmill in PA; Hopwood; one
sawmill in NC; Weldon; and one concentration yard in
Dailey,
WV.
This combination of mills and yards produces approximately
75MM’ of Appalachian hardwood lumber.
Our key species are red oak, white oak, and poplar.
Additionally, we have significant volumes of hard maple, soft
maple, cherry, ash, basswood, and hickory.
We produce 4-8/4 lumber in many of the species we cut,
and buy supplemental KD lumber as necessary.
Coastal has sales offices in
Summerville,
SC; Weldon, NC; Charlottesville, VA; Dailey, WV; and Hopwood,
PA.
Coastal’s corporate headquarters is in Charlottesville, VA and
administrative staff is located in
Weldon,
NC.
Our sales team has over 100 years of combined industry
experience, and yet is still a vibrant bunch.
Our driving tenets are to provide excellent
customer service to our partners and
consistently manufacture our products from pallet cants
to Prime export lumber.
We approach our business with integrity and we take that very
seriously. If we commit
to something, we will make it happen.
If we make a mistake or create a problem, we will address it
promptly and directly.
We do not claim to be perfect, but these are the key principles we
have committed ourselves to and strive to achieve. Your feedback
helps, so we welcome any
comments you may have.
